Root canal
Yes I have been lazy. There have been so many activities but I didn't get down to blogging about them. But I should write about Chloe's root canal since I have been documenting her dental journey.
She started complaining about pain during meal time so we took her to the dentist. There was an infection on her previous filling and she had pus. She did tell me that the round gum is in pain and not the flat gum. But I didn't open her mouth big enough to see the round gum with pus. So the dentist prescribed antibiotics. My little girl has grown up and no longer fear medicine so she diligently finished the bottle. A week later we went back to the dentist to clean up her decay. She felt pain and the dentist had to numb her. Surprisingly she survived the ant bites even mummy is afraid of. There was a lot of red water (the words that the dentist used to describe blood). Very bad decay and the doctor took some time to clean up. Chloe wowed me and pulled through the pretty long ordeal. More antibiotics. Another week passed and we went back to the dentist for permanent filling. She made noise and nearly cried due to the discomfort but she made it to the end of her root canal which burnt a hole in mummy's pocket. It cost $321. The price to pay for succumbing to their cries for milk during sleep. Kayley joined us for the visits although she was at the reception and not in the treatment room. The nurse recommended she stay out. After the dental visits, mummy gave a firm chat about no more milk during sleep and they should start brushing their teeth in the morning (they used to brush only at lunch time and bedtime). Aww my girls are all grown up and they understand mummy's nagging and no more milk during sleep. Now mummy can sleep through and not drag her feet to the kitchen to make milk. Money worth it! Photos taken during the last visit. See Chloe's traumatised face and also her happy face when the doctor rewards her bravery with sculpted balloons.

Hi tooth fairy!
28 May 2015. Goodbye 4th tooth aka upper left tooth! This is 3 months after the 3rd tooth dropped. But this time it did not drop naturally. Mummy saw a bit of the new tooth. So daddy and mummy took her to the dentist at our block. Her usual dentist was closed for renovation. Dentist put numbing cream and removed the tooth with a gentle tug. Chloe was brave. She teared one drop of tear because she does not want to see blood. This dentist was expensive, cost was $100!

Movie date - Cinderella
14 March 2015. The last time I took the girls to a movie was in November for Big Hero 6. Kayley slept during the cartoon movie. I don't think Kayley is ready for an adult movie so I went to the Cinderella movie with Chloe, just the two of us.
It was a long day. We started with her an hour long kids jazz class at 1230 at Pomo. I will take train with her from tpy to dhoby ghaut. She relaxes in her stroller while I pushed her in the hot sun. That was her 4th class. She danced to songs like Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 and Rather Be by Clean Bandit.
Next stop eduplus chinese class at bishan from 230pm to 4pm.
The movie was 430pm at bishan j8. As usual before the movie, the theatre was playing trailers for other upcoming movies. Maybe chloe was tired or she was really excited about the movie, so she kept asking me if the movie was going to start. After about an hour of the movie she said she was tired and started to fidget in her seat. At the scene where the stepmother tore cinderella's dress, chloe was afraid and sad, so she hid under my jacket. She survived the movie that was near 2 hours but was very tired at the end. I kept repeating the key takeaways for the movie - have courage, be kind, and believe in magic.
When we were home, the girls were fighting over the ipad, and I said to chloe be kind, and her reply was 'whatever'. #facepalm
To commemorate our movie date, I bought her a cinderella story book.

Number 3
Number 3 aka upper front tooth dropped on 5 Mar 15. It was the last day of CNY. The chia family gathered at TPY for steamboat. Chloe's tooth has been shaky for some days. It dropped when she was playing lion dance with kayley under a blanket. Aloysius alerted me. Chloe was teary but didn't cry. She said Aloysius knocked her. Her gums were bloody. I think it was a premature loss. There was no blood when number 1 and 2 dropped. So daddy had to go 7-11 and buy coke for the upset little girl. She got over it pretty fast and she wanted mummy to show everyone her tooth because she was shy to do it on her own. She then looked forward to the visit of tooth fairy. This time 3 gold dollar coins. Dentist says at times the upper front tooth will take 6 to 9 months to grow. Erm. I hope it won't take that long.
29 Oct 14 - 1st loss lower front
23 Nov 14 - 2nd loss lower front
5 Mar 15 - 3rd loss upper front (premature)

Mummy's little models
Today adric & family came over to play. I was chatting with adric's mummy and we spoke about shooting model portfolios for our little ones and sending them for auditions.
So I thought I will blog about the girls' brushes with fame so far.
When chloe was about 7 months old (July 2010) we were shopping at a mall and chanced upon an ongoing contest. It was organised by the milk powder Chloe was drinking and hence prizes were related to the milk powder and I thought why not. So we entered chloe and she took a few shots with the friso tin. I think the public gets to vote for the cutest baby and there were judges too. I can't remember the details. But I remembered we waited a few hours at the mall for the results and the family was bored. In the end we were all happy (especially me!) when chloe won a prize! That was her first win! Vouchers for milk powder. Yay.
In April 12 when chloe was 2+ years old I sent her photo in for a contest. Boy was I happy to know that she was one of the 20 babies shortlisted for the runway contest! Chloe was a little hesitant in getting on stage but somehow the clowny mummy made her jump and laugh on stage. She was then again chosen as the final 10 for a second runway show on the same day. She won a prize, not a grand prize, but still I was a proud mummy!
Chloe was also featured in a kodomo ad on young parents magazine. I was flipping the magazine as usual and beamed with joy when I saw her face. I was only notified later that she won.
So how about Kayley? She won her first contest when she was a month old. It was organised by the cupcake store where we ordered her first month cake giveaway.
When Kayley was near a year old, her photos with mummy and daddy were also featured at bus stop ads by friso. Some friends saw us. But I didn't bump into any of the ads.
And that's about it. Mummy got lazier as the girls got older (or mummy got older?) Or mummy got busier as they aged. Maybe I should start the ball rolling again?

Kayley is 3!
At United Square there's a lot of rides and Kayley kept asking for rides so we put them on the chuggington train for $2. I think it's the first time Chloe sat on a moving ride. She usually prefers a stationery ride. In terms of bravery and garangness, Kayley is better than Chloe. We also had unused zoomoov coupons so we went for rides, 4 times I think.
Kayley received many presents. Beautiful dress from Godmama. Book from auntie corinne. Hello kitty sticker toy from Cabby gugu. Elsa and olaf from Tiffany gugu. Barbie megabloks from siti. But her favourite presents are peppa figurines and computer from mummy and daddy.

Tooth fairy again!
In less than a month, 26 days to be exact, the neighboring front lower tooth dropped! Siti was buying dinner takeaway with her when it happened and Chloe passed her the tooth. When they came back siti placed the tooth for her in a tiny takeaway transparent box. When daddy returned we asked Chloe to show her tooth, siti said the box was on the dining table, and it was not there anymore, so we thought I threw it away while clearing the table. I felt guilty and daddy said I should just use her first tooth and tell her to keep that tooth under the pillow. So when it was sleeping time I did what daddy suggested. I said 'chloe go put the tooth under the pillow' and she replied 'it's there' and took the box out under the pillow to show me. Wahaha. So chloe put it straight away under her pillow when siti put it in a box for her and mummy didn't throw it away accidentally!
Big hero 6
The first time the girls watched a movie was when we were in Kuala Lumpur and the movie was cloudy with a chance of meatballs. There were probably less than 2 and 4 years old. They didn't complete the movie and we were walking up and down the corridors for a break and went back to the movie when they felt better and came out again when they start to make noise.
This time the girls were a month away from their 3 and 5 year old birthdays and we decided to watch big hero 6. The girls were prepped for the big day. They were watching trailers on YouTube, mummy bought the book and read the story to chloe, and we printed the movie poster and pasted it on the wall in the living room.

Siti is 24!
Happy birthday Siti!
The night before, I asked chloe to make a birthday card and she wrote siti I love you and a portrait of siti with a party hat and a dress with a heart shape. She was so excited about presenting it to siti, the next morning, she opened her eyes from sleep, and she wanted to give the card, but I stopped her, siti was still asleep. Chloe laid on her bed but after a short while she went out of the bedroom with the card. Siti was in her shower and chloe knocked the bathroom door and said happy birthday.
We got her a cheesecake from Flor Patisserie. Both girls excitedly put candles on the cake and posed with the cake. Chloe asked siti to come out of the kitchen to the living room for the cake and made siti close her eyes and then shout surprise. Siti good naturedly played along.
We love you siti!

Aunty Chinting
Aunty Chinting bought an organic nail polish for the girls. Chloe is super excited, she loves makeup and painting her nails.
Aunty Chinting has been so nice to us over the past few months. She comes over to play with the girls, and buy them stickers, chocolates.. she brought her ballet friend to teach the girls basic steps.. she brings mummy and daddy to church.. she tries to heal daddy with her prayers.. and we are very happy for her that she finally got her visa and is starting a new and very exciting chapter in Kentucky. We can't wait for her to be back in 5 years time with her little ones! All my best wishes babe! :)
P.S. mummy is a little drained and so is not able to communicate all her thoughts through this post. Auntie chinting is a very special friend to mummy and the girls loved her. She brings them to playgrounds and plays catching which brings the girls so much laughter. She takes awesome photos of them in their smiles.
