My little vain pots

Auntie Mona and Auntie Winnie shared an early present for Kayley. They know Kayley has been watching dope2111 YouTube makeup tutorials. Her fav is Cinderella. She was secretly playing with my makeup and when I found out I thought that was cute and indulged her with my makeup. That resulted in ruining one of my fav lippie - Kayley turned the full lipstick out and capped it and it ended up broken and messy. Also they begged for makeup play for consecutive nights. So I am somewhat happy they have a set of their own but I still have to clean up for them. Is it too early that they are indulging in makeup play? #parentingwoes #4yo #6yo

Root canal

Yes I have been lazy. There have been so many activities but I didn't get down to blogging about them. But I should write about Chloe's root canal since I have been documenting her dental journey.

She started complaining about pain during meal time so we took her to the dentist. There was an infection on her previous filling and she had pus. She did tell me that the round gum is in pain and not the flat gum. But I didn't open her mouth big enough to see the round gum with pus. So the dentist prescribed antibiotics. My little girl has grown up and no longer fear medicine so she diligently finished the bottle. A week later we went back to the dentist to clean up her decay. She felt pain and the dentist had to numb her. Surprisingly she survived the ant bites even mummy is afraid of. There was a lot of red water (the words that the dentist used to describe blood). Very bad decay and the doctor took some time to clean up. Chloe wowed me and pulled through the pretty long ordeal. More antibiotics. Another week passed and we went back to the dentist for permanent filling. She made noise and nearly cried due to the discomfort but she made it to the end of her root canal which burnt a hole in mummy's pocket. It cost $321. The price to pay for succumbing to their cries for milk during sleep. Kayley joined us for the visits although she was at the reception and not in the treatment room. The nurse recommended she stay out. After the dental visits, mummy gave a firm chat about no more milk during sleep and they should start brushing their teeth in the morning (they used to brush only at lunch time and bedtime). Aww my girls are all grown up and they understand mummy's nagging and no more milk during sleep. Now mummy can sleep through and not drag her feet to the kitchen to make milk. Money worth it! Photos taken during the last visit. See Chloe's traumatised face and also her happy face when the doctor rewards her bravery with sculpted balloons.

Hi tooth fairy!

28 May 2015. Goodbye 4th tooth aka upper left tooth! This is 3 months after the 3rd tooth dropped. But this time it did not drop naturally. Mummy saw a bit of the new tooth. So daddy and mummy took her to the dentist at our block. Her usual dentist was closed for renovation. Dentist put numbing cream and removed the tooth with a gentle tug. Chloe was brave. She teared one drop of tear because she does not want to see blood. This dentist was expensive, cost was $100!

Movie date - Cinderella

14 March 2015. The last time I took the girls to a movie was in November for Big Hero 6. Kayley slept during the cartoon movie. I don't think Kayley is ready for an adult movie so I went to the Cinderella movie with Chloe, just the two of us.

It was a long day. We started with her an hour long kids jazz class at 1230 at Pomo. I will take train with her from tpy to dhoby ghaut.  She relaxes in her stroller while I pushed her in the hot sun. That was her 4th class. She danced to songs like Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 and Rather Be by Clean Bandit.

Next stop eduplus chinese class at bishan from 230pm to 4pm.

The movie was 430pm at bishan j8. As usual before the movie, the theatre was playing trailers for other upcoming movies. Maybe chloe was tired or she was really excited about the movie, so she kept asking me if the movie was going to start. After about an hour of the movie she said she was tired and started to fidget in her seat. At the scene where the stepmother tore cinderella's dress, chloe was afraid and sad, so she hid under my jacket. She survived the movie that was near 2 hours but was very tired at the end. I kept repeating the key takeaways for the movie - have courage, be kind, and believe in magic.

When we were home, the girls were fighting over the ipad, and I said to chloe be kind, and her reply was 'whatever'. #facepalm

To commemorate our movie date, I bought her a cinderella story book.

Number 3

Number 3 aka upper front tooth dropped on 5 Mar 15. It was the last day of CNY. The chia family gathered at TPY for steamboat. Chloe's tooth has been shaky for some days. It dropped when she was playing lion dance with kayley under a blanket. Aloysius alerted me. Chloe was teary but didn't cry. She said Aloysius knocked her. Her gums were bloody. I think it was a premature loss. There was no blood when number 1 and 2 dropped. So daddy had to go 7-11 and buy coke for the upset little girl. She got over it pretty fast and she wanted mummy to show everyone her tooth because she was shy to do it on her own. She then looked forward to the visit of tooth fairy. This time 3 gold dollar coins. Dentist says at times the upper front tooth will take 6 to 9 months to grow. Erm. I hope it won't take that long.

29 Oct 14 - 1st loss lower front
23 Nov 14 - 2nd loss lower front
5 Mar 15 - 3rd loss upper front (premature)

Mummy's little models

Today adric & family came over to play. I was chatting with adric's mummy and we spoke about shooting model portfolios for our little ones and sending them for auditions.

So I thought I will blog about the girls' brushes with fame so far.

When chloe was about 7 months old (July 2010) we were shopping at a mall and chanced upon an ongoing contest. It was organised by the milk powder Chloe was drinking and hence prizes were related to the milk powder and I thought why not. So we entered chloe and she took a few shots with the friso tin. I think the public gets to vote for the cutest baby and there were judges too. I can't remember the details. But I remembered we waited a few hours at the mall for the results and the family was bored. In the end we were all happy (especially me!) when chloe won a prize! That was her first win! Vouchers for milk powder. Yay.

In April 12 when chloe was 2+ years old I sent her photo in for a contest. Boy was I happy to know that she was one of the 20 babies shortlisted for the runway contest! Chloe was a little hesitant in getting on stage but somehow the clowny mummy made her jump and laugh on stage. She was then again chosen as the final 10 for a second runway show on the same day. She won a prize, not a grand prize, but still I was a proud mummy!

Chloe was also featured in a kodomo ad on young parents magazine. I was flipping the magazine as usual and beamed with joy when I saw her face. I was only notified later that she won.

So how about Kayley? She won her first contest when she was a month old. It was organised by the cupcake store where we ordered her first month cake giveaway.

When Kayley was near a year old, her photos with mummy and daddy were also featured at bus stop ads by friso. Some friends saw us. But I didn't bump into any of the ads.

And that's about it. Mummy got lazier as the girls got older (or mummy got older?) Or mummy got busier as they aged. Maybe I should start the ball rolling again?
